Seed donations aid YMCA farm project

The Sharing the Harvest Community Farm project at the Dartmouth YMCA recently received donations of vegetable and flower seeds which organizers say are invaluable to continuing the project's mission.
Johnny's Selected Seeds of Maine and High Mowing Organic Seeds of Vermont donated more than two dozen varieties of valuable crop seeds.
Working in partnership with the Hunger Commission, a program of the United Way of Greater New Bedford, last year the Sharing the Harvest Community Farm project provided more than 20,000 pounds of fresh produce to food pantries and soup kitchens throughout Southeastern Massachusetts.
With the donations from the seed companies, along with the efforts of the hundreds of volunteers who are the foundation of the farm, the Dartmouth YMCA hopes to increase its produce donation this season.
